Your Build in Thailand

Lots of stories, what to do, what not to do.  Knowledge is power here in Thailand, why not go into your project with some really good ideas in hand prior to getting started.  If you have been with Cool Thai House since 2004, or at least for a while, it has been updated and brought back to life, thanks for your help and contributions.

Longevity

Started when all that was on the internet was shady images of real estate types wanting to 'sort you out'.  No information back in 2004.

Active community

Yep, hundreds of builds in the forum build stories and loads of images in the gallery.  Also an articles section and the orginal coolthaihouse site brought back to life.

A great place to learn

Instead of jumping right in, here in Thailand especially, knowledge is power in the 'building your own house' game.  Get the ideas down first before the construction crew arrives :)

Google search back in the day before coolthaihouse;  a guy who could sort you out.

It is amazing to look back and see the amount of contributions from expat builders here in Thailand, all starting from the one fuzzy photo with a promise to 'sort you out'. Back in the early 2000's that was all you could get on google as to how to build a house in Thailand. The idea was to be able to build a house for about one million baht, depending on the size and the build quality. No need to get 'sorted out', pretty easy process to manage yourself. After that thanks to many hundreds of contributors to a vast array of images and information.

The original coolthaihouse is back

The many sections of the coolthaihouse project.  It is nice to see the interest over the years in building in Thailand.  As I have been involved in construction in the USA and Thailand, it is amazing what I have learned in both countries.  The main difference between building in the USA and here is like:: everything.  Thailand is a land of low labor costs so the building standard is concrete pier construction.  It the USA it is wood frame due to minimize labor costs.  Please feel free to browse the various sections of the new layout and recommend any changes in the forum.

The forum is the main section of the coolthaihouse project.  There are many project builds there you can follow along with.  The projects generally are shown in the building stories step by step how they happen.  Please feel free to contribute to any individual build story or post your own.

Some images from user's individual builds.  Many images to browse through to help answer the question on how things are typically done in Thailand, and many innovative solutions to building problems are pictured.  Please feel free to post your own images.  You are automatically bridged as a user in the Gallery if you have a Forum user id.

This is the original articles section of the coolthaihouse project.  It contains articles from Dozer and guest contributors.  The information is about interesting aspects of building in Thailand and also some items on just living in Thailand as an Expat.  Hopefully there will be some new information here from guest contributors, just email the text to me and I will add it :)

Who says you need a way back machine to see some really old web sites. This was the original coolthaihouse which was started from images of the original build project back in like 2004. What a google search yielded back then on 'building a house in Thailand' was some Expat image of a house with an offer to 'sort you out'.

The all so important contact form.  This should send an email to Dozer to administer and respond to any issues.
