low-e laminated glass in aluminum frames

Postby rogernel » Tue Oct 21, 2014 4:08 pm

I am looking for a compromise between energy efficiency and price. I have looked at pvc window frames with insulated low-e glass and they are just too expensive here. So now I'm trying to figure out what glass options besides 'tinted' are available for aluminum frames. How thick can the glass be in the aluminum frames they typically make here? For example, can they hold a 12mm laminated pane with a low-e coating in the middle? That would offer a reasonable amount of security, sound insulation and UV reflectance wouldn't it?
