Double wall Yes/No??

Air conditioning, fans, and anything related to keeping it cool, such as insulation. This would include any posts generally discussing how to keep it cool, such as which types of blocks are better insulators.... ideal wall thickness for keeping an A/C house cool, etc.

Double wall Yes/No??

Postby Zorro » Fri Aug 25, 2006 4:23 pm

Had a discussion with a couple buddies about double walls in Thailand.
Buddy no1 says: a must! The most efficient way to keep your house cool besides the roof insulation
Buddy no2 says: waste of money, unless you build rather small windows it will not help you. The windows or sliding door area will diminish the effect of double walls in most Thai houses. Spend more on that efficient roof ventilation/insulation.
Hey guys any comments are welcome

Zorro, I must say that everything that insulates is right and double walls is insulated walls. I have friends that have built with double walls and their houses are so much cooler than any other houses I have been to.

My own house, built 10 years ago, is just old Thai style and the rooms with walls to south are hot and the walls are hot on inside.

But don't forget to insulate/ventilate your roof!
