Running costs of a pool?

Any thing to do with swimming pools, fish ponds, or other man made structures which hold water (but not wells for drinking water).

Well, most of us are here in Thailand so we might not know what the running costs are in the USA. Generally the only costs involved are those for running the pump(s) and the purchase of chemicals. The electricity will depend on your local electricity tariff baring in mind that the average domestic pool pump depending on its size will consume about 1,000 - 1,500 watts per hour for 6 - 8 hours a day. You will need to regularly add chlorine either in granules or tablets if you do not have a saltwater chlorination system or other Hi-tech water hygiene system ; you can find chlorine calculators and prices of chlorine on US pool web sites. Apart from that, you may need to regularly add algaecide and pH stabilisers. For more information, please consider reading the other posts by users with local Thai experience.
