Re: Quick way to find official value of house.

Is there a quick way to find the official value, i.e. fiscal value of our house in SiSaKet? The figure that would be used for calculating fees when transferring ownership. We're not in the country at the moment and if it required a visit to the local Land Office we'd need to send a family member. W...

Re: Pemission to view attachment

For the first time, I have encountered the following message: You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. It is on my own blog and on others, and using both Firefox and Internet Explorer. It disappears and shows me the image once I log on. I cannot find any con...

Re: In case a wife dies, what happens to the house?

Guess also very important to register the usufruct as "claim" on the actual property at local land Office. :) An Usufruct is only valid if it it is registered in the land office, as is any lease for more than 3 years. Your land office may, or may not, permit a non Thai to register it, you...

Re: In case a wife dies, what happens to the house?

Sorry, more to the point of your question. I believe that your wife can stipulate (at the local Ampher even) that while the real property will transfer to someone else, that you are allowed to stay there, without fee, for the remainder of your life. One farang in my village has such an a situation ...

Re: In case a wife dies, what happens to the house?

Thank you all for the insightful ideas and comments. While the amphur idea sounds very enticing because of its simplicity, couldn't that way be in jeopardy if there was a law that was enacted after the fact, unbeknownst to the foreigner survivor? Does it come with some kind of a paper trail that on...

Re: In case a wife dies, what happens to the house?

I am told that a foreigner can stay in the house, but the inheritor (in my case the sister of my wife) gets the land. I am told that a will could allow the foreigner to stay, if it specifies it is the wish of the deceased. Is this true? If you only have a will the it will be totally in the control ...

Server change and some small difficulties 24-10-2018

There are some server changes happening starting about 10am Wednesday 24th October. You may have some difficulty with some server features such as picture uploading. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible, when we find out what is normal anyway. Patience is a virtue, please be virtuous. ...

These infiltrators are more than a nuisance yet they seem to have been ignored. ...but I am still here posting relevant stuff on my desert island. As I understand MGV12 is in hospital and Dozer is otherwise engaged, possibly unable or too busy to log on. Nothing much you can do about it. The reason for the picture to be missing could be because it was a linked file and it has gone or it was on CTH but has got lost or deleted so you can ask an admin about that.

The interest in the uk is between ridiculous, terrible and negative.

The only reason to keep £ in the UK at the moment is the hope that the exchange rate will improve.
