This is what my tiles look like now. It seems as if the algae is selective though - it likes some tiles and not others.

There might be a way to high pressure steam clean them, then possibly paint them with a UV resistant reflective coating/system

Question is what is available or what can be found in Thailand

Or Change them to a full glazed terracotta tile they have exactly the same profile available and forget about your roof for the next 200 years .Onceyou paint them they will require re coating every 5 years

Fill prices

Postby ajarnudon » Sun Jan 14, 2018 11:06 pm

Hi Pipoz
Just was reading an old topic which you started before you bought your land - a lot of discussion regarding the cost of fill. For information of others that might be embarking down the same road, the 8 x 10-wheeler tippers of fill I bought yesterday came at 550 B per truck. Very close - only a 1.2 km haul.
Cheers
John

Hi Nigglyb

Probably best you ask John or PM him on through his build "New Village build near Udon", as he might not see your post hear

Except for inner-city areas, fill dirt usually comes from somewhere quite local. People are always having fish tanks or irrigation reservoirs dug on their farmland.
THB 500 seems reasonable to me for a 10-wheel truck, or 350 for a 6 wheeler, in the Udon area, but as these are always a 'one-man' operation, prices can differ significantly. So can the quality of what you get. I recently paid 350 for 6-wheel loads near Kud Chap.

Hi guys,
My build is in a village about 25 kms outside of Udon, and as Jazzman says, fill usually comes from quite nearby. In fact the haul distance is one of the major determiners in the price - they have to cover the trucking costs plus the excavator hire. In my case it was only about 1.5 kms. If you are in Udon (and have the time) you can follow a truck load of fill and ask the recipient details. If non-comprendez, you can follow the empty truck back to the source and make enquiries at that end. One would think that before long there will be huge amounts of earth moving around as the ringroad underpass is excavated on the Nong Khai Rooad. Having said that, on a project of that size, the contractors probably planned a destination for the spoil a year or more ago.
Cheers, John

I really hope to see your place develop into the place you have been envisioning. It looks special. I am looking forward to tracking your build.

No fear of that, house -Kitchen sits 600 mm above top of Pond level

When it (the Pond) gets close to overflowing a pump will kick in and pump out through a line onto the next door neighbors property
