But do you think collected water from roof will be enough for the dry season?
Maybe have a "backup plan" can be smart :-)
Have by ourselves experienced that collected rainwater from house, garage roofs and overflow from lawn hardly is enough for our sprinklers, However, they use much more water than drip irrigation :-)
SO plan to drill for extra water in february.
Also like to wish the 2 of you a marry Christmas and thanks for interesting building story in year soon coming to an end :D

Hi olavhome, and thanks for your concern, but I have tanks and pumps everywhere.

INCOMIG FROM SOI 5
3 x 1500 Lt at the end of the Driveway fed by incoming Mains Water, with its own Pump
3 x 1000 Lt on outside of this Main Garage fed from the garage roof (with its own separate pump), but also connected to & topped up the 3 x 1500 Lt Main Water Tank system

Giving me 7500 Lts at the end Driveway-Main Garage, (with two separate pumps)

Then I have another 3 x 1000 Lt Tanks to the Rear of the House also fed by/connect to the incoming Mains Water

That give me 10,500 Lt of full tanks at any one time, for the House & Main Garage, if the main water is shut off or the dam dries up

INCOMING FROM SOI 4
Coming in from the other Soi 4, at the north end of the property is another mains water feed (but from the same Dam up the road) that fills up another 2 x 1000 Lt Tanks adjacent my Workshop-Studio, with own pump and also fed from the Workshop roof. This 2000 Lts supplies the adjacent toilet /shower and will do the surrounding garden area.

BACK UP PLAN:
Its what the Thai family and myself (when there) recycle through out bodies and discharge into the garden

Same to you Merry Christmas. Unfortunately mine wont be in Thailand

They are finally starting to clear the land down my Soi adjacent my driveway. Still a little bit of jungle next to our place

When we bought at the end of this Soi, it had no real roadway (just a goat track), no street lights, no power to the plot and was a pure jungle at the end where our plot was. Now has a concrete road, less jungle and is looking civilized.

What progress in the space of 5 years

Thanks MGV12. One just has to learn in Thailand that it "take time for things to get done"' :D

So now I have found anther place to build. In the area on the north side of the house between the Garage and the Workshop Studio. The recently completed new Garage is about 20 meters behind the Banana tress i the first photo.

This next Store, will be about 9m Long ways x 6m Deep, similar in looks to the Garage. I will use it to store all my garden tools etc in and have extra Workshop space for whatever.

First Picture: Standing in the footprint of the, soon to be a construction area (of the Store Workshop), looking east. Our land extends about 38 m to the east from where I am standing.

Second Picture: Looking to north east to the northern gate entrance. Gate is about 303 meters away from where I am standing

The new Store-Workshop will be 9m Long ways and 6 m Deep and I will use it to store my garden stuff in, plus have a bit more open workshop space , if needed. The look of the Store Workshop will be similar to that of the front of the Garage

For all those starting out I echo that ...but as you any many others have shown ... you can realise a dream; even if you need to modify that slightly if it won't work here.

Store-Workshop: And the footings go in

The block wall with the red painted numbers will eventually be demolished and all the banana trees will be removed, after I secure this part of the plot with a gate at the north entrance

Store Workshop: Ground beams underway

Ground slab will be about 150 mm thick concrete with Y12 REO at 200 - 250mm centers each way  I am not storing heavy materials/items in it, but may park the car in the center part.

A few pictures of the southern driveway, today, some 4 1/2 years after the start of the landscaping.

Plants are growing well, but it is starting to look a bit shabby. Have to find a way to get rid of all those weeds popping up. It worries me but doesn't seem to worry the Thais

Will shortly shift those Pallets of Roof Tiles around the back of the House, since they are for the Store-Workshop at the rear. Typical Thai delivery just dump them anywhere (driver entered from the wrong Soi and just off loaded them anywhere). Now I have to get guys to carry 85m2 of roof tiles to the back of the House without braking them

There was nothing on the land 4 + 1/2 years ago, when we built the Bamboo House & Outside Toilet in April-May 2012, having earlier placed 500mm of fill all over the 1 Rai that we had at that time. That same Bamboo House, which cost me $500 to build, still stands behind the Main House and is soon to be demolished, to make was for a garden area. It has done its job and stood the test of time.

The old Bamboo House is looking a bit tacky/run down, now

Time to burn it  I can see me buying all the booze and a large bonfire one night.

Better move it away from the main house first
