SSW, looking good. You lowered tour crane beam for light clearance or was there another reason?

The crane is as high as it can be. It is an under slung design and there are 4 support points that hold the runway beams, the 2 in the centre come off the trusses but the ends are suspended from H beams under the roof steel. This means that the truss support points are the hight of the H beam lower than the trusses themselves. You then have the end trucks and the bridge girder is suspended from that.

It is a custom design with the stresses and loads calculated by our architect and his structural engineer. Total cost is about 1/5 of a quote we had from a crane company  it cost less than they wanted for labour and shipping only.

I bet it's a lot cooler already inside the house?!
Looking good. Very curious for the coming weeks when detailed work starts to go in.
Cheers,

That won't be in the coming weeks :( as there is a dead stop at the end of the month when we have to go back to the land of the rising yen :)

It looks like you are full steam ahead and trying to finish before you leave and the end of March

Spot on we have had up to 5 teams on site. The current finish point will be full render on all walls, all electrics in and ready to switch over from the current 2 supplies we have, all water piping in and tested but no tanks or pumps yet, the septic system in, but no toilets fitted, the workshop ramp and parking area complete, and the floors actually flat, as they were supposed to be, so you don't have to use a thick bed of mortar under any tiles and can use thinset.

SWMBO wants at least the first undercoat of paint on as well.

We have too many window and door openings to be able to board them all up but may do the roof ones as they are only 50cm high. If we tried to do them all I think I would need over 40 sheets of plywood, not to mention the other wood to support it
