Current prices for concrete rings incl. Delivery to Koh Tao

Postby amitsch » Fri Jun 27, 2014 3:48 pm

Hello,

i need to built some watertank(s) and was thinking, building them from pre-formed concrete rings might be one of the cheapest solutions...
The ugly look will not be much of an issue since i have some space where nobody will really be able to see them.

I got a quote from a local builder saying that each ring of 1,5m diameter and 30cm height is apparently 900 Baht here on Koh Tao!!!
Whenever i see a price for the rings mentioned in either this or other forums, its always around 150 Baht per ring.
Did the prices change that much or are the delivery costs to an Island like Koh Tao that high???

Does anyone know the current rates for these rings and also what sizes are available? I am pretty sure i saw 2m rings that were 50 or 60 cm high.

Thanks for your input

Just got four 1M X 80CM rings @ 200 Baht each for a filter I'm working on.

They don't have to be ugly.

Such price is more feasible at larger sizes. Anyway, it is advisable to build rather larger rings (if the place allows) when the volume grows quandratically with the diameter and the installation job is almost same, more or less.

I had erected such storage for rain water with rings 110cm. The collected water (after settlement) is later re-pumped into the water storage system for the house where it flows through few sand filters. If collected from the roof directly it makes the system very dirty and very soon, the filters will get clogged by the dirt from roof.

The ladder is prepared for people with mobile water tank (and a mighty filling pipe) who are asked to kindly fill-in when the rain has not come as planned. :(

For another part of the roof I had bought a plastic tank 1,500 L, prepared for adding water to our fish pond.
Such tank costs about 4,000 Baht (Global House, Thai Watsadu) and is easy and quick to install.

They give 15 years guarrantee. I have asked to get a discount since so many years I obviously will no longer need :( . They laughed, however, did not reduce. :D

Thanks for your help guys.

it seems that the island prices here make it almost impossible to built a watertank to reasonable rates ;-(
