The Daily Mail is back!

Postby MGV12 » Thu Jul 24, 2014 7:31 pm

Many [if not all!] members will be happy to see that 'we' are once-more allowed to view the outpourings of this esteemed journal. :D :( :o  :? 8) :x :P       :!: :?:   :|

Personally I only read it for their comments on [proper] football. :)

Just had a look see all I get is that green warning. I'm sure it is telling one and all about that evil  site.

'Science' is okay http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/index.html

If you watched "Monty Python Live (Mostly): One Down, Five to Go" then you would have heard the following joke amongst others:

"Paul Dacre, the editor of the Daily Mail had an asshole transplant but the asshole rejected him."

Maybe something to do with where you are accessing from or the ISP [???] as I was just checking on the football and F1 [links above] without problems.

None of those sites work here, not that I would ever normally go to them.

Wonder if moderators are above common folk :?:

If you go to the home page its blocked ... true ... but individual pages such as those listed are not; even to non-moderators 8)

TOT have blocked all of them. I really can understand why. Why would anyone want to read The Daily Mail? It's a bit like being caught reading the Melbourne Truth when it was in print. If caught of course the stock answer was always "I follow the horse racing guide" of which I might add was the only factual part of that "newspaper" .......besides Miss Truth on page two or three....my memory has faded.
They've done more "green" messages on other sites that I won't print here. The message is all in Thai of course; you'd think they would have the decency as they are in English, to post an English versiion for us "farangs".
They even banned the Wiki site (English) for the Thai monarch, so I guess they are using the "top secret" classification a lot, in the interests of national security.
They even got into some academic sites as well as the professional tennis players site (woops).

AIS has blocked all of the sites shown above. It's a conspiracy being run by those in authority, it is. I so wanted to see that horse racing guide and catch up on the professional tennis players. Alas no to be!

Couldn't agree more ... I did read it many moons ago but now it seriously is only for their EPL coverage. Not that they are any better than the rest but if you take a consensus across the board, by glancing at all of them, you sometimes find out what is actually going on. All the 'so-called' sports journalists are merely after 'a story' or a 'coup' [can we use that word anymore?] and the truth/facts, as in most media these days, often lags a long way behind; as it's considered irrelevant compared to a 'Good Story'. WAGS and wages is what British 'sports journalism' is about these days ... for those who have never heard of WAGS it's an acronym for Washington Area Girls Soccer league

Interesting that individual ISP's are making their own decisions on site blocking.

I would read the latest "directive" put out by the powers that be: http://asiancorrespondent.com/author/bangkokpundit/
And the Thai Journalists' Association (that's a loose word "journalist") are having meetings and then censoring themselves for having them. They are saying they are not happy by being "happy".
If anyone has read Not the Nation: http://notthenation.com/ the person/people who originated it and kept it going will be thinking about starting one for the Bangkok Post shortly. I think this is apt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo4OnQpwjkc for the situation.
