Building in Kanchanburi!

Postby Greermao » Sat Dec 14, 2013 11:12 pm

Hi Everyone,

We finally have a house design and are ready to start building in Amphur Sisawat, Kanchanaburi. Now we just need to find the right builders...
Would love to hear any ideas, war stories, recommendations, etc. And we promise to share our project along the way! Thanks!

Welcome to CTH and thanks for posting ... we look forward to sharing with you.

Hopefully not too many war stories along the way  especially from your building site

there are a few war stories to read about already by reading a few you could save yourself becoming a serious casualty Good luck with the build if you post the design you may get a few pointers / useful suggestions
my comments may be wrong but never deliberately

Hi Geordie, you are right, I read thru quite a few of the build stories. Will upload two drawings that should give an idea on what we are trying to do: breezy house with only ambient lighting, and low cooling costs. All on one floor, wheel chair access, etc.

Ideas and suggestions happily received!

Interesting design, think your two bathrooms with hinge doors should swing to the showers. If you want to leave the door open say to brush your teeth you can’t.
It's not who you know, it's whom you know.

Actually, for wheel chair access we will probably make them sliding doors in end, but I like your eye for details!

Greermao,
Just a word of caution with the windows and large glass doors, the house will be scorching hot unless blinds and curtains are used.

Thanks Roger!

There is quite a significant roof overhang, but there will be some sun during sunset just before the sun meets the hill, but we have awnings ready for that time. The house is set at an angle so there is minimal East/West sun in the afternoon and non-existent in the morning.

Looking good, are you on the resovoir or on the river as you mention river in your post. I know getting materials over to the resovoir is a big and costly exercise if you are past Thakadan and use the ferry to transport materials.

:D Best of luck with your build and keep the pictures coming.

We are on the river, so no issue with moving supplies, thankfully!
