We plan to build a holiday house in Phetchabun

Postby Lenthai » Fri Feb 10, 2012 4:51 pm

Hi all, my name is Len and I am from The Netherlands. I am a retired businessman. I live now together with my Thai wife in Pattaya. For about 5 years. I know Thailand quite well, because I have been here many times both for business and pleasure for many years. We plan to build a small holiday house in Bueng Sam Phan, about 80 km south of Phetchabun city. I enjoy very much living here in Pattaya, but get sometimes fed up here. For instance in the high season periods and during Sonkran. In the high season with all these Russians around and Sonkran is also not my favourite week here. So, we thought another place upcountry, to relax Thai way of living, could be nice. :D

Welcome Len. Do you already have land and a house plan?
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

Len,
Are you the "hands on" type or would you prefer someone reliable to just do the job and hand over the key? <Edited ...please do not promote companies and other fora in the open forum - mod>

If you are going to go with local contractors you absolutely MUST be on site pretty much the whole time otherwise disaster is the only outcome. All builders worldwide operate on the same principle: Fast, cheap and good. Pick two.

If you can't be on site from start to finish, build in stages.
