Ceiling contact for Chiang Mai

Postby Max&Bee-in-CM » Mon Nov 22, 2010 6:42 am

We are having difficulty finding a sun-contractor to do the plasterboard ceiling for the house.

Does anyone have a good ceiling man (or girl for that matter....) at a good quality and a
reasonable price for Chiang Mai?

Thanks...

Found someone at 200 baht/sqm. Another quote was 350 baht/sqm.

Sorry did not get back to you earlier.

Your price looks about right for around here .... ours was 200Baht for standard Gyproc or 230Baht for the water-resistant [foil backed] option; which is what we went for. They did a really good job so if anything goes wrong with your guy I can pass on the number.

As far as prices go it sounds about right, here in Pattaya it is 60 pm labor only or 180 pm including materials. (Also small extra charge for multi level ceiling).

Thanks guys, will go with our man for 200 - although I want to see the plasterboard on offer and decide what to use.

For the outside soffits, is the ceiling metal structure the same? Only the plaster is waterproof, right?

Just a note: Note sure if it is factored into the bid but bathrooms should always use the moisture resistant variety of plasterboard.

For outside soffits it is normally not plasterboard used but something like 'smart board' a cement composite material with vent holes although there are a lot of options. (See kknaj build for recent example). I've heard and been offered the option of water resistant plasterboard on the outside, it is not as suitable/sturdy for outside environment and is mostly a money saver option.
