The final part of the funeral ceremony is concurrent with the concrete pour

24th November part 2

The general idea is to have floors that are flat so they can be tiled using thinset rather than the usual Thai style of 10cm of concrete under the tiles. Only time will tell if the idea actually worked.

26th of November

My first sight of the work. Hummm they are working fast because the concrete has been ordered for the 28th and they have to get the framework ready.

Now I'm watching what's going on and notice this

Hummm

A closer view

Now I'm no expert but it looks as if there may not be enough spacers. So I ask SWMBO to translate and ask the leader of the group what the spacing of the spacers should be. The answer comes back that it should me at 1 metre intervals on alternating sides, not as we saw. So we thank him for the information and later call our contact, Khun Ruang his boss who calls him and tells him that he has to redo the shuttering with the correct spacers. I'm not making their day :?

To come: thicker concrete is not better it's just thicker, and miss communications make more work, also 3cm is not 6cm

Whoops I've just noticed I was writing November when it should have read December

27th December (the next day) they are working frantically to get ready for the trucks coming in tomorrow, so I'm staying well back.

There was about 1/2 a cubic metre of concrete left

The remaining concrete gets a home

29th December

Problems and solutions

First more concrete is not better, the depth of the trough that the linear drain should fit into should be 6cm and it is about 2.5

image.jpg
Too shallow

image.jpg

The answer will be to dig out about 3cm in a square around the outlet.

Second problem, when we arrived back from Udon Thani the workers were about to leave for the new year holidays having "wrapped" the columns

image.jpg

image.jpg

image.jpg

I was neither impressed nor happy so decreed that every column had to be re wrapped and had to supply the plastic and tape for the wrapping.

Helping

How to show that the post had been properly finished. I had no idea when I bought this tape at auction about 35 years ago that it would have such a long life and be so useful.

30th December

No work on the site, just adding water to the posts to ensure a proper cure

4th January
The builders are coming back tomorrow and the roof metal team will be starting then.

So we have a supplementary temporary electricity supply

30(100)A supply

I was thinking that a vented roof ridge would be a good idea however SWMBO pointed out that it would be a disaster at this time of year and the reason is.

It isn't the house burning, that's just perspective, it's sugar cane.

Hi SWW

Same question here as Pipoz, great looking beams. I tried and failed to get what I wanted as far as I beams concerned, I think it was a cost thing. I had to improvise.
Your project's progressing great.

It isn't a big problem, what happens if you don't measure twice and cut once

Thanks, yes it does look that way from here in Japan.

The speed of the project increase is in inverse proportion to the drop in my available money :? :(

I just hope the first finishes before the second.
