After the rain comes the pumping out of the water, but were to :?:

Maybe its time to create a permanent pond in the back yard, with a few fish

At least the rear driveway is doing its job "as a bridge"

At least the front yard is always nice a dry after a big rain. I have a slight fall on the driveway towards the front gate, so some of the rainfall just flows out onto the front road and vacant land outside

Garden is getting green and full. This has all grown in 3 years and just about all of the trees & palms were only 1 m high when planted. Doesn't take long to establish a garden scene in Thailand

So I will give it one more year and then start the flower garden beds and hardscape pathways and driveway paving. "Black Slate" if I can find a quarry in Thailand that produces larger size pieces

Back to the kitchen and installing the steel wall beams and supports for the kitchen bench tops. Have two supports on the right side - either side of the Sink and one support on the back left side - midway between the cutouts for the two cook tops.

Sink Cut Out: The cut out for the sink in the bench top will be quite large - 1180mm x 480mm. This doesn't leave much meat on the granite bench top & support planks, running along either side of the sink. So will probably add a small frame under the sink and hang it of the steel supports, to carry the weight of the sink when full.

The granite bench top is to be independent of the eventual cabinets and or fridges, below it.

Eventually, I will set the Top of the Granite Bench Top at 880 mm above Finished Floor Level, leaving me 790mm clearance from FFL to underside of Bench, except where the steel support beams are 100mm lower.

Several perspectives of what the kitchen interior layout might look like, without the Island Bench area (at this time), in different colors.

The desired color will be one of either Purple Violet or Blue Violet or Burgundy Red, but the perspectives cant quite catch the intended color.

Will leave the TG to pick her desired color, since as she will be looking at it long after I have gone

Kitchen: and the steel beams go up for the two glazed wall assemblies (one front & one left side)

The top window section assembly is likely to be a simple UPVC Center Hung Pivot window, rectangular shape (90cm L x 60 cm H)

Kitchen block walls underway. This is day 3, so by Friday (day 6) the block walls should just about be complete. :D

Have a small crew of 4 (Husband & wife team from Buriram with 2 local Friends), installing the steel work to the bench & windows, plus moving all the blocks from north side of the driveway, laying the blocks and doing the render inside and outside walls/columns

I expect they will take about 10-12 days to do all of the Work, and I will pay them TB 30,000, plus given them room and food for the 12 days. Works to walls is laying 40 sqm (40mm Wide inside block + 70mm Wide Block skin), plus a concrete lintel over the double door and then about 104 sqm of render (to inside/outside wall, column & concrete ring beam)

Electrician is due to start working with them tomorrow :D

Decided to cut our first tree down. Actually I do have a chainsaw and he did eventually use it

Will slowly remove a few trees to thin out the land scape

More progress as the kitchen walls go up. This is Day 4 of the kitchen steel work & walls and I expect they will finish the block walls on Friday (Day 6). Then start the Render

The Supervisor is the short one - sitting on the blocks, as I a not there. Might have to give him a Salary

Forgot to make sure he puts the holes in the wall (right size and right place) for the Hood Exhaust/Extraction

So punched out a drawing and photo, hoping he gets it in time

Shifted some of the old kitchen gear out towards the new Larger Kitchen area

Then demolished the Old Bamboo Hut Kitchen

Then started a new small temporary structure, which will be a short term kitchen, until the new Larger Kitchen is completed, some time next year. Then this new small temporary structure, may then become an undercover BBQ area.

Maybe I can turn it into a book and then a movie, to recover some of the money :D

Either way, welcome to Udon Thani, assuming you are intending to retire in the general area. Looking forward to reading your storey
