Went to Boonthavorn with the TG to choose granite for the kitchen bench top.

So many options, but got down to the final four, Blue Pearl Light, Lavender Blue, Himalayan Blue and Tan Brown

The winner," Tan Brown"   Her choice. Told her that she will be looking at it, for a long time after I am gone, so she better pick one she likes.

Now have to draw up the sizes, cut out positions/dimension and place the order. The only issue is, they (Boonthavorn) tell me the maximum length that I can get per piece, is 2.50 m long. I am going to be saddled with several joints, which I was trying to limit/eliminate. Price is around TB 4,300 per square meter, cut to the size.

Then amend the kitchen color/finishes scheme to accommodate the Tan Brown look

At the same time picked the wall tile to the two main wall areas - Crystal White Carrara Marble Experience (its a Porcelain Tile, look a like). More uniform in appearance than natural marble and should not stain or discolor

Wall Tile Price was TB 51,414 for 66 No 90cm x 60cm Tiles & another TB 2,975 for 17 bags of Crocodile Wall Tile Adhesive. Works out to TB 1,236 per square meter, without labor cost

Floor Tiles: Still chewing over going for a light or medium light color floor tile or neutral look, so as to blend into the wall color and so contrast with the darker granite bench top.

Initially looked at Matt Non Slip tiles in Boonthavorn, from this range of 120 cm x 60 cm porcelain tiles, i.e. colors, Galena SQ, Pirite, Shadest San & Farfalla Mocca (Says Made in Italy but most likely Made in China), most of which are pretty neutral in color. In this range I am leaning towards either the Farfalla Mocca or the Pirite color :D

Then saw the Flow Light Grey Porcelain Tile (120 cm x60 cm) with a polished finish, at TB 1387 per m2 (from China), sitting next to a marble look tile, which gave me some idea of what a final look might be, between the wall & floor. Quite like the end result of the two colors/patterns, together. Think it will be easier to keep clean, but will be more slippery. Will probably go for this Flow Light Grey color look on the floor.

Pip- I know your counter is already constructed but you could lower a small section down a couple of inches or so where the cooktop sits to break up the longer length of the top?

Thanks and did think of that, but really want to retain the one level across the full length of the bench tops. So I have two options,

1.Stay with the one granite color (Tan Brown) to all bench top areas, keep it the one level and just accept another butt joint in the granite surface or,

2.At the bench ends (say for a 70-50 cm length) introduce a second granite color, either one which contrast's the Tan Brown Granite color and complements the wall or floor colors (say Camel Brown) or a second granite that works with the Tan Brown color and contrast with the wall/floor color (say Multi Color Red-Black)

I have seen it done before (two granite colors in a bench top area), where at the end of the bench top and the end vertical side piece were done in second granite color from that of the main bench area. Where they joined on the bench top the two granite's were cut to meet on a 45% angle, so it looked like an intended feature.

Just playing with ideas at this stage   and also still have to decide whether I construct a long narrow Island Bench area

Sorry, I did not read the whole thread. Why not to purchase the exact dimensions you want at a granite shop. Aren't you any nearby?
Years ago I did it so, no problem with any length around 3 - 4 m.

Yes did try to get order my Granite in my lengths of 3.7 - 3.9 m plus, but haven't been able to find a Supplier who will accommodate me. Not so far.
