Traditional Thai house Doors

Can anyone suggest anywhere to find traditional thai house door the one which to a westerner we would call the gate into the garden solid doors with heavy frame wooden bolt acroos the back to secure them. we are in the pattaya area.

any thing similar to the attached.

You can get these type of doors in Pattaya/Thailand, but they need to be a special order, & specially made, so work out very expensive

None of these kind of doors are factory producded. Do not go through a retail or wholesale outlet. Drive round the alleys until you find a little carpenter that makes them. Negotiate a price with him that should fall to almost what you will have seen in the shops. Try also looking slightly farther afield than Pattaya to avoid being mercilessly ripped off.

Take a weekend trip to Mae Sot near Tak. Not only do they have these beautiful entrance doors, but in teak too. Furniture, window frames, traditional poster-beds...you name it. Have them use Thai Post trucks to ship to your home, avoids complications at the Thai police check points. Costs are a third of prices in CMai, because that's where the retailers get theirs.
