catalogues online

Not very extensive and definitely not the only ones out there, but maybe of interest to those of you still outside the country:

They have removed that catalogue from their site. Try this: http://www.homepro.co.th/index.php.

At the top righthand there's a button EN for English.
Most Thai websites have it somewhere, but it's often hard to spot. This one is in 2 colours and the EN of "TH EN" is orange.
I've done it for you and the next page in English which you could try is http://www.homepro.co.th/index.php?lang=en.

fred,
Not to be too picky, but did you read their English? Everything I looked at was in Thai on their English pages, except of course for the main headings.
HomePro have this really bad habit of playing with things they know nothing about. An example is the mitre saw I just purchased last week. The blade had been removed. When I went to replace the blade after assembly, the screw holding the safety cover in place had been stripped. Yet another 1st class product ruined by fiddlers, who know not what they do. How they did it I will never know. My wooden work horses will now have to be cut with a circular saw, which also had the blade removed.

I don't notice such things much because in safari I have a plugin for Google Translate and I press the button and it comes up in (not always very good) English.
If you are using Safari on your iMac, ask your daughter to go to Preferences / Extensions / Get Extensions and install Translate 1.0 for you.

fred,
I don't know whether you have noticed or not, but Google Thailand is taking over, or at least trying to, both the inferior PC and the iMac and is spamming mercilessly since Google Thailand took over the running of Google here. When my "favourite pages" came up on the iMac one time it had two porn sites in place of a Thai bank and a Thai soap page (my wife and daughters). I have since installed a second firewall after tracing the two back to Google Thailand. The iMac is mine/a family computer that will not be run by Google Thailand. Somehow they were pasting the shadow porn sites (in grey) over the top of legitimate sites. It's not that I'm offended by porn sites, it's the fact that the iMac is no longer ours. The PC is infested with the same problem and needs cleaning daily before you can use it.

I don't use Google Thailand. I use Google.com. You can too. If you use Safari the pop-up blocker should stop anything offensive appearing.
I don't use a firewall or a virusscanner, but check only once a week if there is anything added and it is always zero.

RR try this.

1. Create an iGoogle account.
2. Go to the settings in your iGoogle page.
3. Change your current location "in my case to Canada".

Unfortunately this is neither an ISP, Mac. Microsoft, or country-related issue. This is specifically a Google-related issue (if you want to identify it as an issue). When you go to Google's website it identifies your IP address and automatically determines which country that IP address is coming from. Once it determines that it will automatically redirect your page to the specific Google page they have created for that country. Google is able to identify the countries where websites are published, thus, it will prioritize your search results to the country where you are doing your search.

This is a smarter and better method by Google to provide people the best results possible. Obviously, for some people, specially tourists or people who simply want to search U.S. websites, this is annoying.
It's not who you know, it's whom you know.
