The system is finally partially back up. Posting appears to be working, there are various glitches still being fixed, the major one related to the forum is that images can't yet be uploaded.

interesting that there was only 16 minutes notice of your 2+ day shutdown  a group mail would have been a better way of informing
people :)

I agree - spent a long time looking for the problem when there was no problem to look for.

Yes, I also agree! I only knew about it shortly before also, it was the host doing the hardware upgrade, nothing generated or controlled by CTH. Should have estimated 5 hours then would have only been off 10 to 1.

Things looking better today, file uploads seem to be working everything is normal with the forum as far as I can tell.

One good thing is the new hardware we have been ported to is much more robust, quicker and there is more disc space....

From where I'm standing it seems to have slowed considerably.

I uploaded some pictures to my album yesterday and all went well.

Unfortunately we still have the remaining problem in the photo section that you cannot delete your pictures once they have been posted, only solution is to crop them so small that they are not visible

Loading speed is fine, but then again it is glacially slow while I am in the US so my perception is probably off since I am back here and all is good with the world

Thanks for reminding me about that. That is on my list to resolve. In the meantime just send me a note and I will manually delete the pics. Note; this is not due to the server upgrade.

There are various tools available for determining if the cause of delay is related to the internet routing or the server. Unfortunately I'm not sure how good they are.
I just googled 'how to tell if the server is slow or it is the internet'

This looks interesting: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1030966

On the other hand the host has statistics that show when information is received by the server and how long processing takes. It can be compared between the old and new servers if any one is interested I will try to get the statistics.

I would caution that most browsing experiences would be related to the internet connection/routing as opposed to the server speed, which is normally nominal.

From the home page there is a link: OriginalCTH which is the original CTH site archived.
Following the link produces that error.
Where were you seeing it?

response from host:
That was a test of a configuration optimization, which was on for about 1 minute.

1 minute, but he did hit it !

His 1 minute is most likely measured like his 1 hour.
