EDIT functionality

Post by dozer »

Recently the EDIT functionality came up in a post (as to whether it is available or not). This is the feature that allows you to edit your post if you make a mistake or want to change something you posted. The purpose of the function is to allow for quick changes to a post after the fact, however, some of our members were using it to go back and update old information, which was also OK. The time period WAS unlimited.

A couple of months ago a member decided to go back and delete all of his post text which made the threads un-understandable...... THIS was not the intended use of the edit function. Since this happened and showed the potential for user abuse on the forum, I made the EDIT function only available within the first 1/2 hour after a post.

As far as this forum goes I think this is the best setting, but please note: you will not be able to go back and update old information, you must add a new post if you want to indicate info has changed.
